The\u00a0traditional restaurant – tavern\u00a0“Stavraetos” in\u00a0Syrrako\u00a0is the first tourist business of the region. It was founded in 1976 by Vasilis Vaitsis and till nowadays his family continues to provide its services to the visitors and those who admire Syrrako.<\/strong><\/p>\n In a\u00a0traditional environment, with decorated wooden ceiling, stone curved fireplace, photos and objects from the past Syrrako, the\u00a0delicious dishes\u00a0of “Stavraetos” are waiting you to enjoy them.<\/strong><\/p>\n The hall is\u00a0renovated\u00a0and air-conditioned and is offered for every kind of\u00a0events\u00a0and\u00a0social events\u00a0as well as for\u00a0groups\u00a0of organised journeys. The hall has a capacity of 80 persons.<\/strong><\/p>\n The restaurant has adopted\u00a0Food Quality Management System ISO 22000\u00a0and meets all the requirements of the\u00a0Food Safety System HACCP.<\/strong><\/p>\n The developed livestock in the region and the production of dairy products are the most important elements of\u00a0gastronomy in Syrrako. A great variety of recipes for cheese, such as fried cheese and parmesan cheese, galotyri and baked feta, it will excite you. The gastronomic variety of the region is also enriched by local pies. Their recipes are transferred unchangeable in time from one generation to another.<\/strong><\/p>\n Cheese pie,\u00a0pie with greens,\u00a0local pie\u00a0with\u00a0flour\u00a0and\u00a0feta cheese[“zymaropita”, in Greek],\u00a0pumpkin pie,\u00a0meat pie\u00a0and\u00a0pie with spaghetti, are some of the famous pies of “Stavraetos”. More than 35 years Mrs Evridiki makes them for her customers.<\/strong><\/p>\n Cooked\u00a0lamp,\u00a0cooked goat,\u00a0cooked pork with celery\u00a0and\u00a0greens,\u00a0grilledsheep meat\u00a0are waiting to taste them with the company of local drink –\u00a0tsipouro\u00a0and chosen red wine. It means\u00a0joy, means\u00a0love\u00a0andpain, means\u00a0feeling.<\/strong><\/p>\n Tsipouro means endless conversations next to the fireplace, agreements or disagreements, means the passage from the past history of our region to the big future questions.<\/strong><\/p>\n It means to become one with the place and its people, means to become their friend.<\/strong><\/p>\n Tsipouro here means rite.<\/strong><\/p>\n Tsipouro of Stavraetos is produced with the\u00a0traditional way\u00a0into handmade bronze cauldrons from local varieties of grapes. Christopher Tefas from Syrrako produces it.
